A control method for an external counter-pulsation system is implemented with a control unit, and includes the following steps: detecting a plurality of QRS complex waves; calculating a heartbeat rate value according to the QRS complex waves; determining a time interval of pressurization according to the heartbeat rate value; calculating a pressurization time point according to the QRS complex waves; and determining whether it is in an abnormal state at least according to the QRS complex waves, and controlling a plurality of pulse pressure bands to stop pressurization and reducing pressure upon determining it is in the abnormal state.
