An activation device 110 activates a capsule endoscope 10 that has a receiving coil 18a inside and is activated when voltage not less than a specified value or current not less than a specified value is generated in the receiving coil 18a. The activation device includes: a case 111 a transmitting coil 114 provided in the case 111 and configured to generate a magnetic field when current flows through the transmitting coil and a guide display portion 112 for guiding to a position that is located outside the case 111 and that is a position of the capsule endoscope 10 where the capsule endoscope 10 can be activated based on the magnetic field generated by the transmitting coil 114.
