Medical connector (10) without high flow needle having a downstream end to receive a first medical device and an upstream end (16) to receive a second medical device having a standard medical Luer tip at a first end thereof, the medical connector comprising: a housing (12) having an interface configured to receive a connector portion of the first medical device, the housing comprising a cavity extending from the upstream end (16) of the medical connector (10) to a lower inner surface of the housing, and an inner cannula (50) extending from the lower inner surface towards the upstream end of the medical connector (10), the inner cannula (50) having a substantially cylindrical outer surface, and having an end upstream of the housing (12) a substantially circular, rigid and continuous periphery; and a sealing gasket element (14) made of a flexible material, the sealing gasket element having a downstream end in fluid communication with the interface, an upstream end suitable for receiving the second medical device and a passage ( 94) normally substantially closed in fluid communication with the downstream end and the upstream end such that a substantial portion of the first end of the second medical device is allowed to enter the passage when the second medical device is inserted into the medical connector; wherein, after insertion of the second medical device at the upstream end of the passage, the distance between the guiding surface of the Luer tip at the first end of the second medical device and an upstream end of the inner cannula (50) is approximately the same in size as an inner diameter of the inner cannula, and the distance between the guiding surface of the Luer tip at the first end of the second medical device and the upstream end of the inner cannula is less than the height of the inner cannula; and wherein the upstream end (16) and the downstream end of the medical connector (10) are disposed on substantially the same axis to help provide a substantially s
