A bed (50) includes a base frame (62), a deck (400) coupled to the base frame (62), an electrical communication network (1024), an air handling unit (1046) mounted on the base frame (62), a plurality of air therapy devices (1502, 1514, 1516, 1518, 1520, 1522, 1524, 1526) located on the bed (50), and a plurality of control modules (1542). Each control module (1542) includes connectors (1566, 1568) for coupling a corresponding air therapy device (1502, 1514, 1516, 1518, 1520, 1522, 1524, 1526) to the air handling unit (1046) and to the electrical communication network (1024). Each control module (1542) also includes a controller (1586) for operating the corresponding air therapy device (1502, 1514, 1516, 1518, 1520, 1522, 1524, 1526) with the air handling unit (1046) based on command signals received from the electrical communication network (1024).
