PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide medical devices and methods for reducing the intraocular pressure in an animal eye and, more particularly, a stent type device for permitting aqueous outflow from the eyes anterior chamber and a method for treating glaucoma associated with the stent type device.SOLUTION: Incision is performed in a travecular network by a self-trephining stent 30, which allows for a one-step procedure in which a stent or an implant 30 is disposed at a desired or predetermined position in the eye. A shunt or the stent 30 generally includes a snorkel 32 and a body portion or a blade 34.
