An optical delivery device for supplying light to sub-superficial areas of the brain or body, the device comprising: a) an implantable optical transmission element (104, 106, 125, 210, 230, 260, 304, 404) comprising a proximal end and a distal end; b) a light source (202) for producing light from electrical energy, wherein the light source is at the proximal end of the optical transmission element; wherein the implantable optical transmission element is made of a material that is substantially transparent to the light from the light source, the material having an elongated shape that substantially encloses the light source at the proximal end of the optical transmission element, and which serves to supply the light from the light source to the distal end, and wherein the optical transmission element is adapted for rotation about the longitudinal axis (302) and has a distal tip (306) designed to direct the light of angled manner, with respect to said axis, to change a position of a light stimulus location; c) a fixation portion (112, 114, 130, 262, 312) physically coupled to the optical transmission element, for fixation to the patient; and d) a heat dissipation portion (112, 114, 130, 262, 408, 410) that has a thermal conduction path to remove heat from the proximity of the light source.Un dispositivo de suministro óptico para suministrar luz a zonas sub-superficiales del cerebro o del cuerpo, comprendiendo el dispositivo: a) un elemento implantable de transmisión óptica (104, 106, 125, 210, 230, 260, 304, 404) que comprende un extremo proximal y un extremo distal; b) una fuente de luz (202) para producir luz a partir de energía eléctrica, en donde la fuente de luz está en el extremo proximal del elemento de transmisión óptica; en el que el elemento implantable de transmisión óptica está fabricado con un material que es sustancialmente transparente a la luz de la fuente de luz, teniendo el material una forma alargada que encierra sustancialmente la fuente de luz en
