The implant (10) has a set of stimulation electrodes (22), which deliver electrical stimulation signals to cells of a retina in an eye of a patient, to be contacted. Imaging units (18) convert incident light into the stimulation signals, where the electrodes are divided into two groups that are controlled temporally and successively for delivery of the signals. A repetition frequency of each group of electrodes lies between 0.2 Hertz and 6 Hertz.
