A puncture resistant bag has an open end into which is inserted the injection port of a Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) assembly which has a flexible catheter. The open end of the bag is irreversibly sealed by one or two fastening mechanisms each having two parts which join to seal together a first side and a second side of the bag. Each fastening mechanism has a first part joined to or passing through the first side which is captured or adhesively bonded to a second part joined to or passing through the second side. The bag has indicia indicating where to cut to remove the locking mechanisms to access the port. The bag is sized such that the port cannot be rotated to a position adjacent the open end.
