The method involves retrieving an encrypted patient identifier from a file within an authorized environment. A patient identifier associated with patient identification information is located in a database using the encrypted patient identifier. The patient identification information is inserted into the file within the authorized environment, and the file is downloaded to a workstation via a web service. The file is modified and automatically uploaded from the authorized environment to a data warehouse at a predetermined schedule. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a patient re-identification system comprising a data storage and a processor (2) a computer-readable medium including a set of instructions for execution on a computer.
