The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating sarcopenia, comprising a resveratrol derivative as an active component. The resveratrol derivative, HS-1793 exhibits effects of protecting mitochondria functions and inhibiting cell death against oxidative stress by tBHP, a representative oxidative stress-inducing drug in mouse muscle cell line (C2C12). Therefore, HS-1793 can be usefully used as a medicine for preventing, alleviating or treating sarcopenia.본 발명은 레스베라트롤 유도체를 유효성분으로 포함하는 근육소실증 예방 또는 치료용 조성물에 관한 것으로서, 레스베라트롤 유도체인 HS-1793은 마우스 근육세포주(C2C12)에서 대표적 산화스트레스 유발약물인 tBHP에 의한 산화스트레스에 대한 미토콘드리아 기능 보호와 세포 사멸 억제효과를 나타냈으므로, HS-1793은 근육소실증 예방, 개선 또는 치료 약물로서 유용하게 활용될 수 있다.
