PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a collagen compact having a fibrous structure, and suitable as a three-dimensional cell culture substrate and a medical material.SOLUTION: Fibrotic collagen deposited by an alkali metal bicarbonate is freeze-dried and then subjected to crosslinking treatment, to thereby obtain a collagen fiber crosslinked porous body. A collagen compact produced by the method has a porous structure constituted of a continuous hole having a hole diameter capable of cell migration, while keeping a fibrous structure by the collagen, and can function effectively as a three-dimensional cell culture substrate.
