The washing machine comprises: a housing (1), a washing tub (5) being provided in the housing (1); a washing tank (3) provided on the housing (1); and an ultrasonic generating device (2) disposed above the washing tank (3) and connected to the housing (1). An ultrasonic vibration end of the ultrasonic generating device (2) faces the washing tank (3). After clothing to be washed (4) is placed between the ultrasonic generating device (2) and the washing tank (3), the ultrasonic vibration end of the ultrasonic generating device (2) partly contacts the clothing to be washed (4), and ultrasonic vibration waves are directly transmitted to the clothing to be washed (4) which is soaked with a washing liquid (12) for washing. The washing machine is capable of both overall cleaning of clothing and quick thorough removal of stubborn stains on parts of the clothing.
