摘要:
The present utility model provides a control measure against wood destroying organism from the volatile oil of lemon-scented gum (Corymbia citriodora). Disclosed herein is a volatile oil extract from Corybia citriodora and its methanol and the hexane fractions as a control measure against subterranean termites (Coptotermes vastator Light), drywood termites (Cryptotemes dudleyi Banks) and powder-post beetles (Dinoderus minutus F.). There was a general increase in mortality of insects as the concentration of crude volatile oil and its fractions increased. The methanol fraction is highly toxic to subterranean termites (85.0 pcnt to 95.0 pcnt ), moderately toxic to drywood termites (26. 7 pcnt to 40.0 pcnt ) and slightly to moderately toxic to powder-post beetles (15.0 pcnt to 46.0 pcnt ). The hexane fraction is highly toxic to subterranean termites (85.0 pcnt to 100.0 pcnt mortality) and powder-post beetles (28.3 pcnt to 73.3 pcnt ). The crude volatile extract at lower concentrations (50 pcnt and 60 pcnt ) are not toxic to slightly toxic to termites while higher concentrations (70 pcnt and 80 pcnt ) are slightly to moderately toxic to termites and powder-post beetles.
