A hand-held device for electrically powered skin treatment is presented inwhich an electricalcurrent is guided into the skin via an electrode (3) so that activeingredients from a creamapplied previously to the skin can better penetrate into the skin.The device is equipped with a charging circuit and rechargeable batteries (73)which areaccommodated in a compartment (72) at the bottom of the device. Thiscompartment (72) iscovered by a compartment cover (77) on which a connector socket (82) isarranged whichcan be connected with an external power source for charging the batteries(73). A housingcover (75) is arranged over the compartment cover (77). The housing cover (75)is flush withthe outer contour of the device housing.
