An electrode assembly for neuro-cranialstimulation includes an electrode, aconductive gel, and an adapter including an interiorcompartment for positioning the electroderelative to the adapter and for receivingand retaining the conductive gel. The conductivegel contacts the electrode along an electrode-gelinterface. An orifice at one end of theinterior compartment and adjacent to a positioningsurface of the adapter for positioningthe electrode assembly against a skin surface ofa user enables the conductive gel is able to contactthe skin surface of the user to define a gel-skininterface, such that a minimum distancebetween the electrode-gel interface and the gel-skininterface is maintained between 0,25 cmand 1.3 cm. An electrode assembly mountingapparatus is provided for adjustably positioninga plurality of electrode assemblies against targetpositions on the cranium.
