Methods of and devices for palliating gastrointestinal strictures using rapidexchange type enteral stent placementcatheters. The catheter (280) may include an inner member (286,288) and anouter member (290, 294), with the two membersbeing slidable with respect to one another. In various device embodiments, aramp (292) for directing a guidewire out from withinthe catheter is provided using portions of the outer member or a shapedmandrel. The inner member may take a number of forms,including a tubular distal portion, a skived or integrally attached elongatemidsection, and a proximal portion. A mandrel (296)can be used in a portion proximal of the guidewire ramp, with the mandreltaking one of several disclosed' forms.
