The probe comprises an elongate body and a tip disposed at one end of the elongate body, the tip being configured to be positioned in the cervix of the animal, and extending between a proximal end (14) located at the elongate body side and a distal end located at the side opposite the elongate body, with, between the proximal end (14) and the distal end, a set of lateral flanges extending outwards from a central shaft characterised in that the flange (18) closest to the proximal end (14) has, at the base of same, an annular bulge (35) configured such that said flange (18) has a sudden change of thickness at the junction between the annular bulge (35) and the peripheral portion of same located further outside than the annular bulge (35).
