The present invention provides antibodies that bind to the lymphocyte activation gene 3 (LAG3) protein, a T cell co-inhibitor, and methods of use. In various embodiments of the invention, the antibody is a fully human antibody that specifically binds to LAG3. In some embodiments, the antibodies of the invention are useful for inhibiting or neutralizing the activity of LAG3, thereby providing a means of treating a disease or disorder such as cancer or viral infection. In one aspect, an isolated antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof that specifically binds to human lymphocyte activating gene 3 (LAG3) protein is provided, wherein the antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof is determined by hydrogen / deuterium exchange.
