A MASP-2 inhibitor agent for use as a medicine, which selectively inhibits the activation of the MASP-2-dependent complement and at the same time leaves intact the activation functionality of the C1q-dependent classical complement pathway, wherein the agent is an antibody or its fragment that binds to the full-length MASP-2 polypeptide, but does not bind to an N-terminal MASP-2 fragment consisting of the CUBI-EGF-CUBII domains and does not bind to the C-terminal fragment of MASP-2 consisting of the CCPII-SP domains.Un agente inhibidor de MASP-2 para uso como medicamento, que inhibe selectivamente la activación del complemento dependiente de MASP-2 y a la vez deja intacta la funcionalidad de activación de la vía del complemento clásica dependiente de C1q, en donde el agente es un anticuerpo o su fragmento que se une al polipéptido de MASP-2 de longitud total, pero no se une a un fragmento N-terminal de MASP-2 que consiste en los dominios CUBI-EGF-CUBII y no se une al fragmento C-terminal de MASP-2 que consiste en los dominios CCPII-SP.
