A method, composition, and kit for treating a malarial infection in a subject by using an enzyme conjugate comprising a variant cystathione-gamma-lyase and a targeting ligand which binds to erythrocytes infected with Plasmodium pathogens. The variant cystathione-gamma-lyase has methioninase activity. Also disclosed is a method of treating Plasmodium- infected blood by exposing the infected blood with the enzyme conjugate.L'invention concerne un procédé, une composition et un kit pour le traitement d'une infection paludéenne chez un sujet à l'aide d'un conjugué d'enzyme comprenant une variante de la cystathione-gamma-lyase et un ligand de ciblage qui se lie à des érythrocytes infectés par des pathogènes de Plasmodium. La variante de la cystathione-gamma-lyase a une activité méthioninase. L'invention concerne également une méthode de traitement du sang infecté par le Plasmodium par exposition du sang infecté au conjugué enzymatique.
