Provided is a liquid detergent composition which contains (A) 1-7 pcnt by mass of a fatty acid salt that is represented by general formula R1COOM (wherein R1 represents a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 5-25 carbon atoms, and M represents an alkali metal, ammonium, alkanol amine or basic amino acid), (B) an alkylamino carboxylic acid-based amphoteric surfactant and (C) a chelating agent. The component (A) contains (A1) a fatty acid salt represented by the above-mentioned general formula wherein R1 is a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 5-12 carbon atoms and (A2) a fatty acid salt represented by the above-mentioned general formula wherein R1 is a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 13-25 carbon atoms. The mass ratio of the component (A1) to the component (A2), namely A1/A2 is 0.8-20. The mass ratio of the component (A) to the component (B), namely A/B is 1-9.
