The present invention relates to a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) apparatus for angiography. The MRI apparatus includes radio frequency (RF) coils, applies RF purses to a target through the RF coil, and generates blood vessel data by receiving MR signals from the target through the RF coil. The MRI apparatus includes a signal transceiver unit and a control unit. The signal transceiver unit includes: an RF transceiver unit including a signal transmission unit for applying the RF purses to the RF coil and a signal reception unit for receiving the MR signals including properties of time-of-flight (TOF) signals and balanced steady state free precession (bSSFP) signals from the RF coil; and a gradient magnetic field amplifier for controlling a spatial encoding gradient. The control unit includes: an RF control unit which generates RF purses for obtaining the TOF signals and bSSFP signals to transmit the RF purses to the signal transmission unit of the RF transceiver unit; and a gradient magnetic field control unit for generating gradient magnetic field control signals and transmitting the gradient magnetic field control signals to the gradient magnetic field amplifier.
