The physiological cooling agent N-ethyl-2,2-diisopropylbutanamide exhibits a surprising selectivity for throat cooling over mouth cooling, especially when consumed in the form of a confection. Methods of treating throat discomfort using N-ethyl-2,2-diisopropylbutanamide are described.
