ABSTRACT A medication dispensing unit (Medbot) comprises first set of canisters to hold the medicines and to dispense, an electronic controller operative to open set of canisters to release prescribed medicines from the set of canisters at scheduled time and collector cup to collect the prescribed medicines for consumption. The Medbot comprises set of cups each comprising the prescribed medicines for consumption in the event of non release of the prescribed medicines by the set of canisters. The Medbot comprises touch screen display to display the information about the prescribed medicines stored in the canisters with prescribed dosage. The touch screen display allows altering the prescription. The electronic controller opens set of canisters to release corresponding set of medicines when medicine stored in the set of canisters displayed on touch screen display is selected. The electronic controller sends a message to mobile device indicating the release of medicines at unscheduled time. The electronic controller provides a sounding alert indicating the scheduled time for consumption of medicines.
