The invention relates to a mechanical overload coupling, particularly for hedging shears. It serves as a flexible member integrated into the transmission unit and is intended to prevent mechanical damage in the transmission between the input and the output if the output is jammed. While it is the aim of the invention to reduce the outlay on components and on production and, at the same time, to eliminate adjustment work for the setting and resetting of the maximum torque to be transmitted, the object of the invention is to provide in the coupling region the flexibility which will guarantee that the drive connection is separated if the output is jammed and will nevertheless ensure that the maximum torque can be transmitted. This object is achieved in that the driving element is provided in its end faces with at least one recess, these recesses being arranged offset relative to one another, and at least one radially extending slot is provided at the circumference of the locating hole.
