PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide improved method and device for treating obstructive sleep apnea.SOLUTION: An implantable tissue traction element 200 includes a shaft body 205 sized to be inserted into soft tissue in a patient's oral cavity or throat. The implantable tissue traction element further includes a traction element member 210 in a first end 215 of the shaft body or in its vicinity. The implantable tissue traction element further includes a removable coupling tool 220 connected to a second end 225 of the shaft body or its vicinity. At least one of a part of the shaft body and the traction element member can be located on the surface of the soft tissue.
