The grains break down inside the oral cavity when a load is applied, have a good granular feel without feeling foreign, and penetrate to fine recesses having a width of no more than 150 [mu]m such as tooth perikymata, mesiolabial grooves, central ridges, and distolabial surface grooves, so as to exhibit high plaque-removal capability and stain-removal capability. The dentifrice of the present invention is formed by distributing grains containing a water-insoluble powder material (A) and an inorganic binder (B). In the grains that are present in the dentifrice after distribution, the average value for the ratio (SA/SS) between the area (SA) of a projection surface of the grains and the area (SS) of a circumscribed circle having the maximum longest diameter (DL) in the projection surface as the diameter thereof is 0.5-0.9.
