The end effector of a surgical stapling instrument including a stop, wherein the end effector includes: a cassette with brackets, comprising: a plate having a surface and a plurality of holes passing through the plate, a plurality of brackets, each bracket having a base and at least two legs protruding from the base, wherein said legs at least partially protrude into said openings； a removable tissue thickness compensator located above the surface of said plate, wherein said tissue thickness compensator has a surface in contact with the tissues； the supporting surface of the cassette with brackets, designed to support the bases of these brackets, while this plate is designed to slide relative to the specified supporting surface of the cassette with brackets as these legs are deformed by the stop. 2. The end effector according to claim 1, wherein said plate slides between the (inoperative) position and the actuation position, and in which said plate is located closer to the bases of said brackets in the actuation position than in the idle position. The end effector according to claim 2, wherein said legs of said brackets protrude through said openings into said tissue thickness compensator when said plate is in said idle position.
