The disclosure notes that a disadvantage associated with present float valves is that water is consumed at a rate greater than it is replenished which is determined by the fluid inlet to the trough. The attachment (1) includes a body (2), an inlet (3), a first outlet (4) and a valve (7). The body (2) includes an upper compartment (5) and a lower compartment (6). The inlet (3) is associated with the upper compartment (5) and the first outlet (4) is associated with the lower compartment (6). The valve (7) is configured to close the inlet (3). The first outlet (4) engages with an inlet of the float valve. The attachment (1) further includes a second outlet (9) which is configured to be sealed by the valve (7) when it closes the inlet (3) associated with the upper compartment (5).
