An assembly for an autoinjector device, the assembly including a syringe support 20 for supporting a syringe by limiting forward axial movement of the syringe relative to the syringe support, and a guard element 40 attachable to the syringe support so that the guard element is axially restrained both forwardly and rearwardly relative to the syringe support. The guard acts as a loading bridge to transmit axial forces A to the syringe support 20 via the attachment, hence the axial forces bypass the syringe and protect the syringe flange from loading and breaking. The guard 40 may have forwardly extending legs 46a and crossbars 46b to form a clasp 46 which bears on a flange 22a on the syringe support. The syringe support may have rearwardly extending legs 24 which have an elbow (24a, see figure 1A) to stop rearward movement of the guard, and also hooks 48 to clip onto the guard. The rear surface 42 of the guard may be a flange extending radially outwardly and sloping forwardly.
