This invention aims to develop a system which can not only help the patients to obtain the most efficient treatment through better drug medication adherence, but also helps physicians to understand the specific effects of treatment on each patient, allowing eventual improvements in treatment efficiency. The system is comprised of three major parts: an electronic drug container, a hospital server and a home server. The electronic drug container is a microcontroller based device, which is used to store tablets, remind the patients to take medicine at the right time, and to record the time that the medicine is taken. It can be also used to save personal health records such as body temperature, blood pressure and blood sugar levels. The hospital server is mainly used by medical staff to give out the patient’s prescriptions and related information. It also keeps a record of when a particular patient removes medicine from his or her electronic drug container. The home server is used to edit the patient’s personal information and to store personal health records.
