The absorbent article (10) includes: groove sections (21), the entirety or one portion of said groove sections (21) comprising recessed sections (21r) formed at the surface sheet (14) side of the absorbent article (10) by integrally joining the surface sheet (14) and the absorbent body (13) and flat sections (24a) that are surrounded by the groove sections (21). The diameter (R1) of the maximum inscribed circles of the flat sections (24a) is 5-20 times the width (L1) of the groove sections (21) along the radial direction of the maximum inscribed circle.
