A portable cardiovascular monitoring device comprises a first CV sensor based on a photoplethysmography (PPG) technique for measuring a first CV signal of a user and at least a second CV sensor based on an electrocardiography (ECG) or an impedance cardiography (ICG) method for measuring a second CV signal. The portable cardiovascular monitoring device comprises a control device (13) and a signal processing module (14) for estimating the reliability of the CV sensor signals and selecting at least one CV sensor signals to be utilized in order to obtain a single robust users heart rate estimation.
