The present invention relates to a composition for whitening skin, comprising an inhibitor of the expression or the activation of p21-activated kinase 4 (PAK4) as an active ingredient. The PAK4 of the present invention promotes the melanin production induced by -MSH or UVB in melanin cells through a signal transmission path of CREB and Wnt/-catenin. According to the present invention, the melanin production can be inhibited in an effective manner, when inhibiting the expression or the activation of PAK4 in the melanin cells. The inhibitor of the expression or the activation of PAK4 of the present invention can be developed as an agent for whitening the skin or as an agent for treating melanin hyperpigmentation disorders.본 발명은 PAK4(p21-activated kinase 4)의 활성 또는 발현 억제제를 유효성분으로 포함하는 피부 미백용 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 PAK4는 멜라닌 세포에서 α-MSH 또는 UVB에 의해 유도된 멜라닌 생성을 CREB 및 Wnt/β-카테닌 신호전달경로를 통해 촉진한다. 본 발명에 따라 멜라닌 세포에서 PAK4의 활성 또는 발현을 억제하면 멜라닌의 생성을 효과적으로 저해할 수 있다. 본 발명의 PAK4의 활성 또는 발현 억제제는 피부 미백제 또는 멜라닌 색소 과다 침착 질환의 치료제로 개발될 수 있다.
