PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a walking assist device of a new structure which can stabilize a detection state of a sensor in a soft type walking assist device adopting a flexible assist force transmission part.SOLUTION: A walking assist device 10 comprises: a first mounting part 16 and a second mounting part 18 which are mounted on a waist side and a leg side positioned across a hip joint 20 of a user A a flexible assist force transmission part 14 arranged so as to be bridged between the first mounting part 16 and the second mounting part 18 and a drive device 34 for taking up the first mounting part 16 side of the assist force transmission part 14 to exert a tensile force.
