The purpose of the present invention is to provide a balloon catheter which can be very easily inserted through a blood vessel portion, can reliably hold a distal end tip even if an inner tube and the distal end tip cannot be welded together, and is configured so that a kink will not occur on the distal end side of a balloon. A balloon catheter is provided with an outer tube 10, a balloon 30, an inner tube 40, and a distal end tip 50, and the distal end neck section 32 of the balloon 30 has: a proximal end section 321 having a first outer diameter D1 and a first inner diameter d1 a distal end section 322 having a second inner diameter d2 smaller than the first inner diameter and a stepped section 323 formed at the boundary between the proximal end section and the distal end section. The distal end section 42 of the inner tube 40 is affixed to the proximal end section 321 of the distal end neck section 32 by adhering to each other the outer peripheral surface 426 of the distal end section 42 and the inner peripheral surface 327 of the proximal end section 321 of the distal end neck section 32 while the distal end surface 425 of the distal end section 42 and the stepped section 323 of the distal end neck section 32 are adhered to each other, and the proximal end section 51 of the distal end tip 50 is affixed by welding to the distal end section 322 of the distal end neck section 32.
