PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide pharmaceuticals for treatment of type 2 diabetes and for reduction of protein glycosylation and pathological aspects related to them.SOLUTION: Provided is use of L-carnitine and/or an alkanoyl L-carnitine, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, in combination with a statin. The statin is selected from among simvastatin, lovastatin, fluvastatin, pravastatin, atorvastatin, cerivastatin, rovastatin, rosuvastatin etc. and, among them, simvastatin is particularly preferred. The alkanoyl L-carnitine is selected from the group consisting of acetyl, propionyl, valeryl, isovaleryl, butyryl and isobutyryl L-carnitine.【課題】２型糖尿病の処置のため、並びにタンパク質グリコシル化及びそれらに関連する病理的形態を低減するための医薬品の提供。【解決手段】スタチンと組み合わせた、L-カルニチン及び/又はアルカノイルL-カルニチン、又はその医薬上許容される塩の使用。スタチンとしては、シンバスタチン、ロバスタチン、フルバスタチン、プラバスタチン、アトルバスタチン、セリバスタチン、ロバスタチン及びロスバスタチン等から選択され、シンバスタチンが特に好ましい。アルカノイル Ｌ－カルニチンが、アセチル、プロピオニル、バレリル、イソバレリル、ブチリルおよびイソブチリル Ｌ－カルニチンからなる群から選択される。【選択図】なし
