A preparation for being fixed to a natural tooth part has surface regionsconsisting of amaterial with thermoplastic properties. The preparation has oscillationproperties withdamping losses that are so small that local stress concentrations are requiredfor liquefyingthe material by oscillation, the preparation being designed such that thestress concentrationsonly occur in the region of the preparation surface. The preparation ispositioned on asuitably prepared natural tooth part such that the material with thethermoplastic properties isin contact or may be brought into contact with the dentin surface and/orenamel surface. Thepreparation is then made to mechanically oscillate and is simultaneouslypressed against thenatural tooth part, whereby the material with the thermoplastic properties isat least partlyliquefied and brought into intimate contact with the dentin or enamel surfacesuch that, aftersolidification, it forms a positive fit and/or material fit connection.
