The present invention provides a delivery system that improves the stability, solubility and permeability of certain types of biologically active compounds in the intestine after oral ingestion. The delivery system includes a carrier granule comprising an agglomeration of solid lipid particles and a biologically active compound. Biologically active compounds can be used with the above delivery systems to treat diseases associated with inflammation, oxidation or protein aggregation where therapeutic blood and tissue levels are required to treat the disease.
