586358 Disclosed herein is a synergistic sweetening composition consisting of: sucralose and a purified extract of stevia, wherein the purified extract of stevia is about 40% to about 100% pure, and wherein the purified extract of stevia comprises a combination of rebaudiosides and dulcosides. Specifically wherein the purified extract of stevia is selected from the group consisting of rebaudioside A, rebaudioside B, rebaudioside C, rebaudioside D, rebaudioside E, dulcoside A, dulcoside B, and combinations thereof. Additionally disclosed is a method of making a food or beverage product comprising said synergistic sweetening composition in a food or beverage product, such as a carbonated soft drink, tea and coffee.
