Disclosed is a weight suitable for fishing comprising an elongate body 3 with integral front, mid and rear sections. The mid section 7 and rear section 9 comprise a first coupling 11, and a second coupling 13 respectively. The first coupling 11 is substantially in line with a centre of gravity of the weight. The mid section 7 has a maximum and substantially circular cross section. The front section 5 tapers from the mid section 7 to a pointed front end 15. The rear section 9 tapers from the mid section 7 to form a rear end 17. The first coupling 11 may be a loop and may be shaped to allow the weight to point downwards during descent, upwards during ascent and horizontally during lateral drift. The second coupling 13 may be a loop, and may allow a line to extend from the rear of the weight, stabilising it in water. The weight may comprise a flight 22 with a plurality of vanes 26 to stabilize it in air or water. The flight may be rounded and/or rotatable and/or detachable. The weight may comprise lead and have a hydrophobic and/or fish-attracting coating. The flight may comprise plastic.
