PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical instrument excellent in durability, capable of exhibiting lubricity when the instrument is moistened, without impairing the lubricity even if the instrument is repeatedly slid.

SOLUTION: An urethane polymer layer 16 is disposed on the outer peripheral surface of the medical instrument (e.g. a guide wire 10) having a resin layer 14 containing a contrast agent, and a maleic anhydride polymer layer 18 is further laminated on the outer peripheral surface of the urethane polymeric layer 16 by coating the urethane polymeric layer with a solution containing maleic anhydride polymer and polyisocyanate.
