The present invention encompasses FMDV vaccines or compositions. The invention encompasses recombinant vectors encoding and expressing FMDV antigens, epitopes or immunogens which can be used to protect animals, in particular ovines, bovines, caprines, or swines, against FMDV. Particularly, the present invention relates to the removal of a portion of the natural FMDV sequence resulting in the combination of partial structural proteins such as P1-2A-2B’-3B’-3C or P1-2A-2B-2C’-3A’-3B-3C. This can be applied to different FMDV serotypes such as A24, A12, O1M, Irn or Asia.
