Disclosed is an ambulatory medical system including a cradle (20), the cradle having a proximal side, the proximal side having a skin attachment member for releasably attachment to a patients skin (5), the cradle having a distal side, the distal side having a device attachment member (302, 304) for attaching an initially separate medical device (10) such as an infusion pump or a continuous blood glucose monitor, the cradle including an electronically controlled optical indication device (400), the latter being arranged to provide optical indications to the patient when the cradle is attached to the patients skin, such as related to a measured blood glucose value or to the operative state or operative parameters or eventual malfunctions of the infusion pump.
