PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a novel thiopyranose compound which enables synthesis of a thiopyranose compound without the need of unstable synthetic intermediates or troublesome reaction operations, a product synthesized by the method and an intermediate for the method.SOLUTION: A method of producing a thiopyranose compound of formula (2) comprises reacting a compound of formula (1) with a sulfur compound.
