PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus capable of measuring a visual axis without the calibration processing which is performed before the visual axis is measured actually.
SOLUTION: The visual axis measuring apparatus obtains an eye ball image where the light is reflected from the predetermined light source about a subject seeing the predetermined screen, and the light axis connecting the center of corneous curvature and the center of the pupil is calculated from the above eye ball image to set the initial value of the misalignment candidate between each light axis and visual axis of one eye ball and the other one eye ball at a given time. Another misalignment candidate is calculated about the one eye ball and the other eye ball by using of the light axis calculated at the other time and the above misalignment candidate arranged at the above given time, and the optimum misalignment is determined from the calculated misalignment candidate between each light axis and visual axis of the one eye ball and the other one eye ball, so that the point of gaze of the subject on the screen is calculated from the misalignment between the above light axis and visual axis.
