PURPOSE: An initial growth promoting and controlling method of plants using magnetic field is provided to reduce the generation rate of side effects on the human body compare to a conventional growth promoting method using chemicals. CONSTITUTION: An initial growth promoting and controlling method of plants using magnetic field comprises the following steps: preparing more than two petri dishes, tap water, cotton sheets, magnet laminated paper, more than 4 sheets of white paper, and a thermometer； layering the white paper sheets； soaking the cotton sheets with water after inserting into the petri dishes； installing the thermometer around the petri dishes； sowing garden balsam seeds in the petri dishes； mounting one of the petri dish over the magnet laminated paper, and remaining the other one as a control group； and covering lids over the petri dishes for maintaining the uniform temperature and the humidity.자기장은 고압선이나 전자제품이 존재하는 곳에 상존한다. 특히 고압선 주위에서는 식물이 2～3배 촉진된다는 보고도 있다. 자기장이 식물 성장에 영향을 미치는지 보기 위해 자석(0.13～0.25Tesla)을 식물 씨앗이 놓아진 샬레 아래에 깔고, 대조군과의 성장 속도를 비교하였다. 4일 후, 성장 속도를 비교해 보니, 자석을 처리한 군이 자석을 처리하지 않은 군의 성장 속도의 1.4배 정도 빨랐다. 그리고 이는 t-Test 통계검정 결과, p-value 가 0.0005 이하로 매우 유의하게 나왔다. 이러한 결과는 자석 등 자기장을 띤 물체로 식물의 발아와 성장을 촉진시키거나 조절할 수 있음을 시사하고, 추후 수확량과 화학비료를 이용하지 않고서도 발아를 촉진 시키는데 이용할 수 있을 것이라고 사료된다.
