This specification describes a modular ventilator. The ventilator has a modular flow control device that is connected to a fluid inlet adapter. The modular flow control device has a sensor for controlling fluid flow through the modular flow control device. The fluid inlet adapter is removable and can include a magnetic indicator from which the ventilator can identify the fluid.
