The ceramic endoprosthesis (1) according to the invention, for implantation in human or animal bone, has a prosthesis body (2) with a bone-facing surface (3) in contact with the bone, which surface (3) in turn has a porous ceramic layer (4) composed of a granulate. The granulate is mixed as suspension to a slip and is applied to the prosthesis body (2). By means of sintering, the granulate is connected to the prosthesis body (2) in an integrally bonded manner and/or with a form fit.
