An absorbent article (1) that has a longitudinal direction and a transverse direction which are mutually perpendicular and that is provided with waist sections (30, 40) along the transverse direction, the waist sections (30, 40) having non-woven fabric sheets and a plurality of stretchable members (35, 45) stretching in the transverse direction, wherein: in a state in which the waist sections (30, 40) are stretched in the transverse direction, openings are provided in the waist sections (30, 40) between longitudinally adjacent stretchable members (35, 45)； in the longitudinal direction, high density regions (H) are respectively provided between each opening and one of the stretchable members (35, 45) from among the adjacent stretchable members (35, 45), and outer regions (E) are respectively provided between each high density region (H) and the one stretchable member (35, 45)； the high density regions (H) have a prescribed length in the transverse direction； the density of the fibers of the non-woven fabric in the high density regions (H) is higher than the density of the fibers of the non-woven fabric in the outer regions (E)； and an unfused section, in which the fibers are not fused together, is provided to at least a portion of the edge of each opening (50).
